Janis Rees

Jan has over 25 years of experience (she’s not saying how many exactly!) in the field of learning and development. She has worked in both the public and private sectors – overseas as well as in the UK – designing and tutoring learning events. She specialises in helping people to improve their communication and interpersonal skills, by exploring behavioural preferences and the impact they have. She regularly uses psychometric tools in her work, is an NLP Practitioner and holds a ‘Diploma in Performance Coaching’.

She intervenes at task, process and climate levels as appropriate in an enthusiastic, ‘high energy’ way – a style that results from her enjoyment of her work and her belief in helping individuals to grow and develop. The focus for her coaching relationships is to help people be fully the person they want to be!

Professional Background

Jan’s career began in Work Study/Organisations & Methods where she gained a keen understanding of critical business performance issues. She attained the Institute of Management Services Certificate and Diploma and her work encompassed the industrial, public and financial market sectors.

In 1986 she made a career transition into Learning & Development working as a Training Manager for the (then) Woolwich Building Society. There she gained a wealth of experience in the design and development of training materials. She spearheaded various corporate programmes throughout the branch network using a multi-media approach combining audio, video, computer and text-based materials to complement the 'face to face' training element. She moved on to take up the role of Senior Consultant within an independent Training & Development Consultancy and, since 1994, has been working with a range of major personal clients including Capital One, Experian, Laing O’Rourke, Lloyds TSB, Rolls Royce, TUI UK Ltd. and Volvo Cars (UK) Ltd.

Personal Profile

Jan lives on the Isle of Sheppey with her husband. She has two particular hobbies (passions) – SCUBA diving (but only in crystal clear, turquoise waters with a temperature of at least 28°C) and motorbikes (she can regularly be seen in her overalls at various race circuits throughout the UK acting as ‘pit crew’ for her husband who has been racing for 5 years and counting!).
