Ray Wicks

Ray has over 25 years' experience as a Learning and Development specialist and has been working as a consultant for the past 9 years. He has designed and delivered numerous leadership and management development solutions and can be relied on to provide a pragmatic ‘outcomes-driven’ approach. His particular expertise is in helping leaders and managers understand and deal with the people side of change. He is accredited to train trainers in Transition Management (William Bridges) which provides valuable tools and perspectives to help organisations successfully implement their change agendas.

In delivering his projects Ray is able to apply a wide range of tools and techniques including those drawn from the fields of coaching, change management, emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, neuro linguistic programming and trainer development.

Professional Background

Ray possesses considerable experience of both commercial management and capability development. He worked in a variety of business settings within the UK Banking sector throughout a period of unprecedented change. During this time he was in the forefront of human resource development playing key roles in leading and implementing strategies such as the development of a Corporate University, implementation of blended learning solutions, e-learning, workshop-based design, action learning and trainer development. Ray has led large training functions and managed training projects within a major FTSE 100 financial services company. He is an experienced coach and mentor, with a background in formal assessment mechanisms such as assessment centres, IIP, NVQ’s and a number of psychometric instruments.

Ray’s consulting and facilitation work has taken him across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and includes assignments with clients such as Activision, Alstom Holdings, Bain Capital, Benteler Automotive, Cargolux, Canon Europe, Coca Cola Enterprises, Gilead Sciences Europe, GSK, Hilton Hotel Group, Illumina, LloydsTSB, Ministry of Defence (UK), National Commercial Bank, NHS, Service Source, Solvay, Sulzer Pumps, UBS Investment Bank, Unisys and Western Union.

He is a NLP Master Practitioner and a Change Management Practitioner (APMG)

Personal Profile

Before working as an independent consultant spent a sabbatical period working with a charity called the Campaign for Learning. This project involved working with a range of volunteer schools across the UK, researching the effectiveness of various learning methodologies on pupils' ability to learn. As a result of the research Ray co-authored a book ‘Teaching pupils how to learn’.
