Phil Lydford

Phil has spent most of his long career operating at senior levels in management or in senior advisory capacities. With proven expertise in people and programme management, business development and change management, he has been well placed to advise and guide many organisations towards achievement of their goals. With a background in financial services and IT allied to operational and change management experience Phil has regularly delivered quantifiable stakeholder benefit in challenging situations.

Professional Background

Phil started his career in banking, but after reaching managerial level switched his focus to the management and improvement of IT functions within financial services. As Group IT Strategy Director for Lloyds Bank he was responsible for bringing the IT function into alignment with the needs of the business. Previously he had led a programme of projects valued at £60m p.a. whilst designing and implementing a culture change programme for a team of 1000 systems developers.

Appointed as a board director of Telehouse Europe Ltd, Phil was responsible for all aspects of business development and sales in a Europe-wide company turning over £50 million. This entailed driving a company-wide culture across several different national cultures to achieve improved profitability and growth. Subsequently Phil established the UK operation of a German-based company, e-shelter, taking accountability for all aspects of recruitment, operations, premises and finances.

Phil’s operational management experience includes the management and measured efficiency improvement of a 150-strong computer operations function, and the ISO accreditation of a large support unit.

As a consultant with CSC Phil was the subject matter expert for financial services and was instrumental in the revitalisation of the BACS operation. Latterly, in another board role, Phil has been advising Managed Networks Ltd (an IT support company) with its business development. He has also been providing consultancy advice to investment funds.

Phil’s fully rounded management experience in fast shifting environments has been put to very effective use in advising and guiding others where his sensitivity to the people issues has enabled him to make change work.

Personal Profile

Phil gets great pleasure from exploring and walking in The New Forest. By contrast he loves all things with engines, be it cars, motorbikes, boats or even mowers. He is married with two children aged 22 and 21.
